Boris Johnson bows out: Gove to run.

Former Mayor of London Boris Johnson has said he will not join the race to be the next leader of the Conservative Party and prime minister.

In a speech in London, Mr Johnson said he did not believe he could provide the leadership or unity needed.

Londoners have been giving their verdict.

Michael Gove has said he chose to run for the Conservative Party leadership after deciding “reluctantly but firmly” that Boris Johnson was not capable of uniting the party or the country.

“It had to fall to someone else… I felt it had to fall to me,” he said.

The justice secretary was set to back his fellow Leave campaigner. Mr Johnson pulled out after Mr Gove’s switch.

(TAP – Gove has very little appeal outside the Conservative Party.  He’s also now got to run with the reputation of the man who backstabbed Boris.   Has Boris realised the impossibility of his position.  He’s surrounded by MPs who want to stay in the EU after promising the people we’re going to leave the EU.  Gove is trying to assume the impossible mantle, fully with the intention of losing to Theresa May, and blocking Liam Fox, who, unlike Gove, would actually run a  regime to LEAVE.  The threat posed by Fox to the cabal that runs Westminster is made all the clearer by the betting and polling reports giving him no chance – with even TV interviewers telling him he has no chance.  That’s the outcome they want.  Will Conservative MPs however realise the game has changed and back him?  If they don’t UKIP’s 4 million votes could treble at the next election. )

Home Secretary Theresa May, who backed staying in the EU, is favourite to win the contest and become prime minister.

(TAP – If May wins, and blocks BREXIT, UKIP will annihilate the Conservative Party at the next election.  The only reason for choosing Theresa May will be to block BREXIT.  That would be catastrophic for the COnservative Party’s electoral future.)

The other contenders are Work and Pensions Secretary Stephen Crabb, who backed Remain, ex-Defence Secretary Liam Fox, who backed leaving the EU and energy minister and Leave campaigner Angela Leadsom.

(TAP – Crabb and Leadsom are Johnnie-come-latelies with unknown appeal.  Crabb is REMAIN.   Fox has cross party appeal coming from a lower class background, and could possibly unite the Party and the Country by pushing through with BREXIT)

Nominations for the Conservative Party leadership closed at midday on Thursday.

    London Mayor Boris Johnson confirmed on Wednesday during a visit to the Western Wall in Jerusalem that he has Jewish ancestry.

    “Yes, I have Jews in my family from Moscow, some of them rabbis,” he told Rabbi Shmuel Rabinowitz, the rabbi of the Western Wall and holy sites. “That’s on my mother’s side.”

    Johnson, 51, is Anglican and a member of the Conservative Party.

    Boris Johnson (Osman) cuts a somewhat comical figure and it’s difficult if not impossible to imagine him as Prime Minister of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Can anyone seriously imagine Hooray Henry ‘Boris’ vs Russia’s heavyweight Foreign Minister, Sergei Lavrov? The very idea is absolutely absurd.

    However, there are far more pressing reasons for his total unsuitability for such high office.

    From the wiki: Johnson has dual citizenship in both the United Kingdom and the United States, since he was born in New York City to English parents. In 2014 Johnson acknowledged he was disputing a demand for capital gains tax from the US tax authorities, which ultimately he paid. In February 2015 Boris Johnson announced his intention to give up US citizenship to prove his loyalty to the UK.

    So has he renounced his US citizenship? Even if he has, his former dual allegiance should rule him out of EVER being US President or UK Prime Minister for all time. But there’s more, much more – and this is just what is out there in the public domain.

    Again from the wiki: In 2009 Johnson fathered an illegitimate daughter with Helen MacIntyre, an arts consultant. Her existence was the subject of legal action in 2013 with the Court of Appeal quashing an injunction seeking to ban reporting of her existence; the judge ruled that the public had a right to know about Johnson’s “reckless” behaviour.

    Reckless behaviour? Too bloody right. Politicians can’t have it both/all ways – though obviously many of them do in the sexual sense of the word.
    If they will cheat on and betray their spouse – and worry only about getting caught – then they will certainly not worry about cheating on and betraying their Country, of which Johnson-Osman has two.

      Regarding BJ’s “Turkic” ancestry the name Osman is of particular interest. OZman is the same as the OZ in Wizard of Oz. Or OZ magazine, or O2 Mobile Telephone Company or O2 Arena or Oxygen. It means horus man etc.
