Campaign against Israeli PM in UK heats up

A petition in the UK calling for the arrest of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu during his planned September visit to Britain is gaining further momentum.

The number of petitioners calling for Netanyahu’s arrest has now almost reached the 80,000 mark.

The petition was launched earlier this month and was posted on the government’s website.

Activists say under international law, Netanyahu must be arrested for war crimes against Palestinians in the blockaded Gaza Strip last year. They want the British government to arrest Netanyahu upon arrival in the UK for an official visit next month.

The British government says certain officials have legal immunity and cannot be arrested or detained. However, if the number of signatories reaches 100,000, a parliament debate must be opened.

Now Alan Hart, London-based author, journalist and researcher says even if the British government feels the heat to arrest Netanyahu, it would forewarn him against traveling to the UK.

Earlier this month, the Israeli Ministry for Foreign Affairs said in a statement that the petition has “no real meaning,” adding, “Bilateral ties between Britain and Israel are closer than ever before.”

Israel unleashed its military onslaught on the impoverished Gaza Strip in early July 2014. The offensive ended on August 26, 2014, with a truce that went into effect following indirect negotiations between representatives from Palestinian resistance movement Hamas and Israeli regime in the Egyptian capital, Cairo.

Nearly 2,200 Palestinians, including 577 children, lost their lives in Israel’s war. Over 11,100 others – including 3,374 children, 2,088 women and 410 elderly people – also sustained injuries.

Stop bombing Isreal indiscriminately and maybe you want get an indiscriminate reaction, but Hamas don’t seem to get this, but makes good news stories to hate isrealis even more.

    • ian says:

So what do you want them to do? nothing at all until you have stolen all their land and killed the last Palestinian child?
Apart from the brainwashed by TV, everyone who has any humanity, is on the side of the Palestinians. Most people that I know, don’t care too much for Israeli tactics, of murdering people in their homes, but even after all the carnage and brutality you have dished out, they would settle for a peaceful fair solution for all. There are many who don’t think that you deserve it, after the way you have behaved, and your tone in the comment here, does nothing at all for any shred of credibility that you have left.

      • Dogman says:

Palestinians living in East Jerusalem face ferocious and suffocating violence from the Israeli army, police and settlers. Settler violence, which includes attacks on property as well as people, usually goes unpunished. More often than not, it will be overseen by Israeli police or army members. The settlers’ illegal activities take many forms. On 30th September 2014, for example, settlers took over seven Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem during the night, evicting the families living there. The settlers were accompanied by Israeli police officers.
Right-wing lynch mobs took to the streets of Jerusalem during the summer, not for the first time, looking for Palestinians to attack. Some Palestinian victims were beaten unconscious, with Israeli police either being slow to respond or ignoring the attacks altogether.
Palestinians in East Jerusalem face police and army harassment and violence during the course of their daily lives, including at the checkpoints spanning the Apartheid Wall. Arrest and detention without charge is common, and, in the last four months, Israel has stepped up a campaign of mass arrests against East Jerusalem Palestinians. Since July, Israeli police have arrested more than 900 Palestinians across East Jerusalem, including children.
The use of tear gas, skunk water (which smells of rotting flesh), drones and low-flying helicopters against East Jerusalem Palestinians has all been increased in recent months.
The situation facing Palestinians in East Jerusalem has been described as ‘a struggle for survival’.

        Al Aqsa
On 4th November, Israel’s Housing Minister, Uri Ariel, who is a settler, told an Israeli radio station that he hopes to see a Jewish temple built in place of the Al Aqsa Mosque. He is not alone. Moshe Feiglin, a Likud member of Parliament and also a settler, has repeatedly called for the destruction of the Al Aqsa mosque and the construction of a ‘Third Temple’ in its place. Feiglin enters the Al Aqsa compound every month, accompanied by other settlers and armed police who keep Palestinians out and prevent them from praying.
Many of the settlers are US-born and openly call for extreme violence against Palestinians, including shooting dead
Palestinian children. Yehuda Glick, the extremist rabbi who was shot earlier this month, also belongs to a group which advocates for the destruction of the mosque and its replacement with a ‘Third Temple’.
Glick and his followers regularly storm the mosque compound and roam its courtyards, often guarded by armed police. In 2014 alone, Glick and his group of settlers entered the compound in January, February, twice in June, July and August. Palestinians who attempt to stop the break-ins face arrest. Israeli provocation and violence in relation to Al Aqsa, and the restrictions placed on Palestinians worshipping there, are too frequent and, consequently, too numerous to detail here.
These are incidents in October alone: Israeli soldiers and settlers invaded the yards of the mosque, attacking and injuring worshippers, with gas bombs being thrown by the soldiers (Oct 9th); hundreds of Israeli police raided the compound firing stun grenades, tear gas canisters and rubber-coated steel bullets (Oct 13th); the Israeli army invaded the mosque, firing tear gas and blockading unarmed Palestinians inside.
In the preceding weeks, Israeli forces had barred Palestinians from entering the mosque compound and facilitated the entry of right-wing Israeli extremists. On 5th November, 300 Israeli soldiers stormed the interior of the mosque, as Palestinians prayed. They were followed by hundreds of Israeli settlers who invaded the compound.

Aye I know Dogman, f***ing terrible. I just wanted to see if Neutrino could give his opinion rather than just sniping at everyone, but he’s just a troll and doesn’t seem to have any beliefs, other than everybody else is wrong.
I also have to watch as I’m a hot head and sometimes regret writing stuff, so usually I’m quite measured.
I’ve read a lot about Palestine and have one or two video’s of the Israeli army snipers shooting civilians and bombing ambulances. I know what they’re like, but don’t want to fall foul of the incitement laws.

    • ferryt says:

Ho ho ho. You’ll have to do a lot better than that here young Shylock.

Yes we know we know, the chosen ones are eternal victims and can do no wrong. You keep telling us. Over and over.

For a shill you really need to go back to Hasbara school. This boy has cried wolf too many times.

You mentioned on another post that posters at tap should go out and enjoy life.

      Is this what you meant:

      ?

      • Neutrino says:

Ever seen any news on palestinian giving out sweets to children to celebrate the killing of Jews? Thought not. One vision is all you have.

  2. Neutrino says:

Get over yourself, I have an opinion different to yours. But of course your immediate default position is to say I’ve been brainwashed. Well sorry to tell you matey so have you. Grow up and deal with it.

    • ian says:

Actually I wasn’t referring to you with the brainwashing, I was thinking of the rest of the world, meaning those that weren’t brainwashed would be on the side of the owners of the land, the Palestinians.
Regarding me, yes I used to watch TV but don’t anymore, so I’m well clued up on what happens.
If you want to discuss things, I’ll talk, but I’m not going to get into a slanging match, (giving each other abuse), so it’s up to you. I’ve never spoken to an Israeli before, and I don’t know any Jews, but I’ll talk civilly with you. Tell me how you feel.

      • Neutrino says:

        I’m not even Jewish.

      • ian says:

That’s ok, do you live in Israel or the US?

      • Neutrino says:

        I live in Kent, England.

      • ian says:

Well then N if you live in England, then you must get your information from TV or newspapers, because if you got your information from various other sources and looked at the evidence, you would have arrived where we are and that’s not the case.

    • ian says:

      We’re done.

  3. Dogman says:

Maybe Israel regrets helping to set up Hamas.

Israel kills a Palestinian child roughly one out of every 3 days and that has been going on for 13 years.

The brutality against the 6 ships in the Gaza aid flotilla showed the world their attitude to the Palestinians.

    • ian says:

As I said to Adam the other day D’ I believe that the Derek Bird fiasco was to take over the media headlines the day after the Mavi Marmara incident, but we’re talking Israeli government, possibly Neutrino is different. I’ll give him a chance to give his side.

    • Dogman says:

“The original plan (of Israel and the mainstream media) was to report that Scotland Yard warned the security officer at the Israeli Embassy”. If in fact this was truthful, then there would be no need for a ‘plan’ as such, but this sentence demonstrates two things; (1) that Israel and the mainstream media acted in unison, and (2) that both parties were aware that it was a lie. In legal terms, conspiracy and perverting the course of justice are just two of the felonies supposedly being committed within this claim.

Both Israel and the mainstream media were aware that the prior warnings issued by Scotland Yard story was not factual, had no corroboration and thus no competence, so just where did these prior warnings emanate from?

But “The multiple simultaneous explosions that took place yesterday on the London transportation system” were also the words used to open an article by Efraim Halevi, a former head of the Mossad and ‘Head’ of the Center for Strategic and Policy Studies at the Hebrew University in Jerusalem, that were printed in ‘The Jerusalem Post’ on the same day as the London Bombing, the 7th of July 2005.

      • Dogman says:

The Goldstone report, which is over 500 pages, investigated Israel’s 22-day air and ground assault on Gaza that took place from Dec. 27, 2008, to Jan. 18, 2009. The United Nations and the European Parliament have endorsed the report. The report found that Israel used disproportionate military force against Hamas militants in the Gaza Strip while failing to take adequate precautions to protect the civilian population against the military assault. The Israeli attack killed 1,434 people, including 960 civilians, according to the Palestinian Center for Human Rights. More than 6,000 homes were destroyed or damaged, leaving behind some $3 billion in destruction in one of the poorest areas on Earth. No Israelis were killed by Hamas rockets fired into Israel during the assault.

“This is the first time the human rights dimension of the Israel Palestine conflict has moved center stage,” Finkelstein said. “It has temporarily displaced the fatuous peace process. It is the first time that human rights reports have counted. There are literally, because I have read them, tens if not hundreds of thousands of pages of accumulation of human rights reports condemning Israel going back roughly to the first intifada to the present. The human rights organizations since the 1990s have been quite sharp in their criticism of Israel human rights policy, but nobody ever reads the reports. They are never reported on, with maybe a couple of exceptions, in the mainstream media. The Goldstone report was the first time the findings of these human rights organizations moved center stage. People stopped talking about the peace process and started talking about Israel’s human rights record.”

I’ve actually been to Israel 3 times for business in the past. At that time I supported what they were doing believing falsely that they were protecting themselves from terrorist threats. Looking back I can remember in heathrow airport being treated like a 2nd class citizen by being asked to wait whilst the Israelis and new settlers get on first. Then being told I had to change my seat so a big hatted jew could be more comfortable in the seat I booked. When I got to Tel Aviv, my luggage was missing, as was nearly all non Jews.
I had dinner on sea front and was joined by customers one who had fought in the so called 6 day war. He told me how they loved nothing more than shooting non Jews, he didn’t say muslims, just non Jews. Two weeks later I was in Singapore meeting the area director for a large restaurant chain who just happened to be Palestinian. Nice guy, told him I’d been to Israel and he just sighed and said he hopes one day they could all live together. Nice guy and very honest.
Now I do my own business and refuse any approaches to do business with Jews.

  15. Dogman says:

I worked with lots of Palestinians in the UAE and they were initially very suspicious of us Brits, but they had more respect for us than they did Americans. It was more to do with our governments than individuals but it was a bit of a culture shock when you’ve been indoctrinated to think the west are the good guys. Good and bad in all cultures, but governments seem to have a higher percentage of evil stooges that suit the hidden power.
