TAP – Sked was the founder of UKIP. He naively allowed the party’s AGM to be attended by whoever tried up. The former membership of New Britain, an overtly racist party, had secretly bought memberships in UKIP. They packed out the AGM and voted off all the founding officers of Sked’s party, and voted themselves on, people like Mike Nattrass of UKIP West Midlands. These same people are still in control of UKIP to this day.
Farage came in a different way but the party has been worked on by MI5 since its inception, and there are many at high level within the party who are no more interested in democracy than the EU.
Farage says he doesn’t want to lead a renegotiation with the EU, and he fears a landslide projecting him into power. He hopes someone like Labour’s Frank Field will do the job with him in support. I understand his being fearful of the system, but what’s the point in getting elected if you’re not willing to do the job. Can you trust him not to sell out Own Paterson-style once he gets to the top. We’ll have to wait and see.
