The Board of Directors of General Electric Company (NYSE: GE) has elected John J. “Jack” Brennan as a GE director.
Mr. Brennan is chairman emeritus and
senior advisor at The Vanguard Group, Inc. He was elected by the GE Board at its meeting on July 27, 2012.
Who are the main investors in Vanguard?
This infomation is proving hard to find out.
However, interesting names linked to the Vanguard Group in the past, Richard Cheney and Halliburton.
Vice President Richard Cheney was head of Halliburton from 1995 to 2000 and may receive deferred compensation and other benefits (not yet calculated) from Halliburton for a period of five years, according to his 2001 financial disclosure statement.
…..10: The Vanguard Group, with 7.6 million shares of Halliburton stock, worth about $176 million. Vanguard, also 10th largest mutual-fund shareholder in Halliburton, is a huge owner in ExxonMobil and ConocoPhillips.
……The Vanguard Group holdings are easily among Cheney’s largest holdings. Cheney’s assets invested with Vanguard Group total $18M to $87M. Given the size of Vanguard’s stake in Halliburton, it is hard to imagine a mathematical possibility that Cheney’s assets are unconnected to Halliburton’s fortunes.
….Halliburton, a huge global conglomerate in the oil field business, landed a non-competitive-bid contract for work in Iraq that now looks almost open-ended. The cost, reported by the New York Times at over $2 billion.

Another conflict, Syria, has been making news recently.
‘Anyone who can claim that an attack of this staggering scale could be contrived or fabricated needs to check their conscience and their own moral compass.’
U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry’ John Kerry.
Anyone control John Kerry?
Well Vanguard did control his wife, Teresa Heinz Kerry, company Heinz ketchup.
Heinz shares are widely held, and a large number of stakeholders stand to benefit from the $28 billion sale,
Mutual funds run by BlackRock (BLK, Fortune 500) and the Vanguard Group are among the largest shareholders, with stakes of 5% and 4.5% respectively.
Vanguard Group also control Raytheon.
Stock shares of perennial defense contracting powerhouse Raytheon hit nearly $77 apiece Tuesday as news of a possible US strike in Syria intensified. The US has said if it strikes Syrian government targets for alleged use of chemical weapons, it would likely use Tomahawk cruise missiles from warships positioned in the Mediterranean. Raytheon is responsible for making and selling the bulk of the long-range, subsonic missiles to the US government.
